Hike in Rock Creek Park!

Did you know that almost 20% of DC is made up of parks? That includes 1,740-acre Rock Creek Park, which is the third oldest National Park in the country. Rock Creek Park is home to many beautiful hiking trails (over 32 miles of trails!) where you can enjoy nature without ever leaving DC or paying a penny.

Three suggested hikes are:
  • "Rapids Bridge Hike" – t2-mile hike that parallels the scenic whitewater section of Rock Creek.
  • The "Milkhouse Ford Hike" – 1.75-mile hike that heads past Fort DeRussy, dating from the Civil War.
  • The "Rock Creek Ramble" – 3.1-mile hike that parallels the whitewater section of the creek.
You can find more information, including maps, at https://www.nps.gov/rocr/planyourvisit/brochures.htm. You can also visit the Rock Creek Park Nature Center & Planetarium at 5200 Glover Road NW 20015 to pick up a map.
